Connecticut licenses massage therapists through the Department of Public Health (DPH), Practitioner Licensing and Investigations Section. Applicants must complete at least 750 classroom hours — instructor physically present, online instruction does not count — at a school holding an NCBTMB school code and accreditation, plus 60 hours of supervised clinical/internship experience, and pass the MBLEx or NCBTMB's national certification exam. Licensees must complete 24 hours of continuing education every 4 years to maintain licensure.

24 hours of continuing education are required every 4 years, in areas related to the licensee's practice. Up to 18 of the 24 hours may be completed via internet/distance learning, and up to 12 hours may come from non-NCBTMB-approved providers. Certificates of completion must be retained for 6 years. First-time renewal applicants are exempt until their next renewal, and anyone continuously licensed since February 1, 1994 is exempt from CE. Licensure by Endorsement
Connecticut's application requires a verification form sent directly from each state licensing authority where the applicant is or has ever been licensed, registered, or certified, indicating an endorsement/verification pathway exists.
